Food for Thought
Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)
Eggs for breakfast and chicken for dinner;
Which one came first thought the curious sinner.
The eggs must have been here before the hens.
How can that be if the hens didn’t lay them?
I had eggs for breakfast, for me they came first!
But the Truth kept him guessing and it increased his thirst.
So, he opened a beer and sat down at his table.
He tried doing the math but he just wasn’t able!
Can a god that does wonders and miracles and such,
Hide this one simple answer; does he hate me that much?
But then the Lord spoke and said: Listen my friend!
If you don’t know the Truth then you won’t see the end!
It will come upon you like a thief in the night.
While you rest with your children; you won’t see the light.
The mysteries that I hold are both numerous and great.
But the answers I gave you; it’s the wicked I hate!
