Raising The Shades

In the depths of sorrow, I once did drown,
Lost in the darkness, unable to be found.
The death of my daughter stole the best of me,
Leaving behind a shattered identity.

With a heavy heart and weary soul,
I wandered aimlessly, with no control.
The weight of loss, too heavy to bear,
But now I rise, casting aside despair.

Through tear-stained eyes, I see a glimmer of light,
A beacon of hope in the darkest of night.
With trembling hands, I raised the shades,
Welcoming the sunlight, as darkness fades.

My heart still aches, and memories sting,
But I find the courage to spread my wings.
For in the depths of sorrow, my deepest pain,
I discovered strength and resilience to rise again.

So I’ll raise the shades and allow light to flood in,
Choosing joy over sorrow, to begin again.
In the beauty of each day’s dawn,
I find healing, I find the strength to carry on.
For though Briana may be gone from sight,
Her spirit lives on as my guiding light.

About this poem

Hidden in darkness, buried in under mountains of grief, depression, and a weakened heart I found the strength to stand and allow the sunlight in.
