I Died Today

I died today.
Quite suddenly,
Unexpectedly.

When dreams are shattered
And hope smatters all thoughts,
Then life matters little.

I cried today.
Unusual,
To see my tears falling.

When friends leave our lives,
And loneliness resides,
Then life matters little.

I lied today.
Ashamedly,
Deliberately.

My conscience nagged me,
Protecting me from harm
Caused by a broken heart.

Yes, I died today.

I admire your raw honesty and heartfelt words. I have lived this myself. Very well written.
