The flicker of a flame

A J C 1958 (Swansea, MA)

The flicker of a flame.

The fear in me was growing stronger. I know you belong to me and no other. Somehow, everything was lost and forgotten in the shadows of the past. I lost you for lust, that was the reason, and now I lay here crying for you every season. Too many mistakes were made, and I never saw the beacon, it really don't matter anyway. I have nothing left to say. Some tears in vain, some crying in pain—love lost in the flicker of a flame.
