I loved you before you were born
You were a part of me
I did everything to keep you
As safe as you could be

I saw you through each sickness
Comforted you when you were sad
Taught you right from wrong
Corrected you when you were bad

Kept you close to me
As older you did grow
Watched you stand alone
Knew you soon would go

Watched you become who you are
