Guards

While working in county jail and watching the attitudes of some macho jailers I wrote this from the point of view I believe I would have if I had been the inmate.

Some jailers mistake the spelling of guard
and spell it with capitals G O D
They have the idea it won't be hard
to reap what they've sewn by cruelty to me.
I lost all my rights when I broke the law.
I'm sentenced to spend some time in this jail.
My debts will be paid with no harm at all
except to myself, emotional shell.
Because I did wrong my windows are barred.
Much time will pass before I can go free
but, I don't deserve emotional scars
they are inflicting so self righteously.
Judgement day will come and they must confess.
I wonder if they can pass their own test.
